Do you have experience either giving or receiving a massage on a pregnancy table?

Can you answer impermanence’s question about Massage?:

I am considering buying a massage table with one of those holes that you can remove for the stomach for pregnant women. But I have also heard that pregnant women are not supposed to lay on their stomachs. Anyone know about this?
Thanks!

Massage Feedback: it is fine for a pregnant women to lay on those massage tables. Since you can remove the stomach portoin of the table there is no pressure on the stomach, and since there is a hole where the table is suppose to be technically the women isn’t laying on her stomach.

Massage Feedback: First of all, I would recommend taking at least a workshop on prenatal massage if you haven’t done so already. There is a lot more to massaging a pregnant woman than having a hole cut out for her belly! I received my training at a workshop 3 years ago. We were taught that the tables with the holes aren’t the best because in the 2nd & 3rd trimesters the pregnant woman shouldn’t be lying prone. I learne to do prenatal massage in the reclining & side-lying positions.
